I teach people how to spin through private lessons. I’ve been spinning since 1998 and teaching for almost as long. Some people learn so that they can go on to perform with real fire, some learn as an exercise or even for physical rehabilitation. There are also many other ways to perform using these skills that don’t involve flames!
I will teach you how to teach yourself, how to figure out new moves on your own…basically how to think about it in 3 dimensions. It is better to learn that way than to just learn “moves”. It is important to start with a good foundation, a deeper understanding of how everything connects and flows together. I want your own style to develop!
Poi is beneficial on so many levels. It is a great workout, combining strength with flexibility. The rotation of the shoulder creates fluid in the synovial sac that cushions the joint, thus increasing mobility. The tractioning effect aids in releasing stress from the shoulder and neck area. Plus, it’s challenging & fun! You get a sense of accomplishment, confidence & pride from spinning…not to mention great muscle definition!
