Henna Body Art

Mehndi Henna

I have been practicing mehndi, the art of applying henna, since 1997.  I discovered my love of this art on a visit to NYC & have since experienced a depth to it that I never could have predicted.  Being adorned with henna is joyful but also meditative, it teaches you to appreciate the beauty & impermanence in life…to enjoy the moment!

I make my paste fresh every week using high quality henna powder imported fresh from India & other natural ingredients.  Every artist practicing authentic henna has their own unique recipe…I use fresh lime juice, eucalyptus oil, lime or lemon oil, tamarind paste, fenugreek seeds, black tea, coffee, sugar & filtered water.  I bandage my henna designs so you wont have to worry about messing up the design before it has time to fully stain.  Henna paste generally needs to stay on the body for at least 8-10 hours to get the best color possible.

After 13 years of working out of a tattoo shop on 6th Street, I have decided to make a big change! I am now working completely by appointment! I have a beautiful, spacious new studio, centrally located on S. 1st St. I can take private appointments anytime (with enough notice), but now I can also host groups, parties & events on any day or night. It’s a perfect place for a girl night, wedding party, baby shower/blessingway, bachelorette party, anniversary, whatever! Other services can be combined to make the perfect party…I offer many other services (hoop lessons, poi lessons, fire dancing or hoop performances), & can hire out for anything I can’t do (bellydance lessons, yoga, thai massage, shiatsu, airbrush art, body painting, photography, bartenders, caterers, manservants!) Soon I will be working up several package deals & will post information on the website. This also means I have more free time to work your party or event!

For smaller parties I prefer to work on a per person basis, that way I can spend as much time as necessary with each client without having to rush.  Everything I do is freehand.  I have many designs to choose from in the studio, but please feel free to bring in ideas of your own!  I prefer clean lines & I’m meticulous with details…I’m a fast worker, but I’m not the kind of artist who can just throw something on you in a hurry.

The most important thing is that I care…I want everyone to love their henna & also enjoy the experience!
